Through its National Parks Edition and International Escapes collections, Irish Spring expands its body wash fragrance portfolio — bottling the scents of nature, travel and adventure.
For decades, Irish Spring body wash and soap have been synonymous with one thing: that unmistakable burst of outdoor freshness.
But as consumers increasingly looked for variety in their daily routines, seeking escape through scent, the brand faced a question: How do you expand beyond a signature scent without losing what made it iconic?
The answer came through two nature-inspired fragrance collections, National Parks Edition and International Escapes, that redefined Irish Spring’s vision of outdoor freshness by capturing the distinct sensory profiles of iconic destinations. From the granite cliffs and waterfalls of Yosemite to the golden light of the Sahara, Irish Spring set out to bottle the essence of travel itself — the sensory moments that make a place unforgettable.
National Parks Edition, created in partnership with the National Park Foundation, brought Irish Spring to four of America’s most beloved landscapes: Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Redwood and Glacier Bay. International Escapes took the concept global, transporting consumers to far-flung destinations through fragrances like Saharan Dawn’s sun-drenched deserts and Icelandic Night’s cooler northern air.
Together, the two collections show how Irish Spring can evolve its signature idea of freshness and adventure — without losing the trust and recognition built over decades.
Fresh Beyond the Familiar
Through consumer research, the Irish Spring team identified a clear shift: people are seeking new, unique body wash fragrances that transport them beyond the everyday. For many, the shower isn’t just routine anymore, but instead serves as a moment to recharge and experience something fresh.
For Irish Spring, it wasn’t just about creating new scents but understanding how people define freshness for themselves. “Freshness means something different to everyone,” said Anthony Rinando, Senior Brand Manager for Irish Spring. “For some, it’s bright and citrusy; for others, it’s crisp or woodsy. We wanted to go beyond the familiar and explore new expressions of that feeling.”
The team didn’t start from scratch. Instead, they drew on Colgate-Palmolive’s fragrance portfolio, where Amy Engels, Senior Principal Scientist, saw an opportunity to adapt familiar scent notes to new concepts..
“We wanted every scent to feel authentic — to the brand, and to the place it was inspired by,” Engels said.
Every fragrance began with a place and what made it unforgettable. From there, the team crafted scents that could bring those moments to life through premium, nature-inspired body washes:
National Parks Edition
- Grand Canyon captures cool desert mornings through a refreshing herbal scent with cedarwood notes — warmer and milder than traditional Irish Spring.
- Yosemite translates fresh mountain streams into an aromatic fragrance with minty notes — crisp and energizing.
- Redwood embodies pine-rich forests through an evergreen scent — a natural connection between the towering trees and the fragrance.
- Glacier Bay delivers crisp mountain air through a woodsy citrus fragrance — invigorating and refreshing.
International Escapes
- Saharan Dawn transports to sun-drenched desert mornings through cedar and vetiver — warm, woody and adventurous.
- Icelandic Night captures cool, mysterious northern landscapes through an aromatic herbal fragrance — crisp and herbal.
The team’s intentionality extended from the fragrance design to the packaging itself. For the National Parks Edition, Irish Spring created full-label artwork for the first time, hand-drawn by an artist who studied each landscape to complete the sensory experience.
"We really wanted to make sure we were paying homage in the best way we could," Rinando said. "From the moment you see the bottle to when you experience the fragrance, everything should transport you to that place."
Innovation Rooted in Fragrance
These collections show that Irish Spring body wash can deliver outdoor freshness in new ways — whether it’s the cool air of a glacier or the warmth of desert sand — without losing the qualities that make people love the brand.
"Fragrance is our superpower," Rinando said. "We should have an array of fragrances that can meet people wherever they are, whether they want the familiar or something that takes them somewhere new."
As Colgate-Palmolive continues to reimagine a healthier future for all, innovations like Irish Spring’s National Parks Edition and International Escapes demonstrate how we continue to evolve to meet changing consumer expectations and expand what outdoor freshness can mean.
The Irish Spring National Parks Edition is available as a Walmart-exclusive limited edition through spring 2026. Irish Spring International Escapes is currently available at HEB, with plans to expand in 2026.
