“We saw an opportunity to reimagine the whitening experience,” said Julie Fuentes, Senior Engineer, R&D, who played a key role in the latest Colgate Optic White Whitening Pen’s development. “We asked: ‘How can we make the application easier and more seamless while ensuring precise dosing?’ We focused on improving every detail to create a product that feels effortless and delivers real results.”
After exploring multiple approaches, the team zeroed in on a key innovation to enhance stability and long-term effectiveness: the Wand applicator.
“We took inspiration from cosmetics, and this approach solved the issue while making it feel more intuitive to use,” Fuentes said. This format eliminates the need for priming, ensures consistent application, and keeps the formula fresh.
Designed for a Better Experience
The latest Colgate Optic White Whitening Pen features several unique design enhancements, including:
½-Turn Thread Closure – Opens and closes in a single movement, unlike traditional cosmetic products that require multiple turns.
Click-to-Close Mechanism – Provides tactile and audible feedback to ensure a secure closure, preventing drying and leakage.
Grip-Friendly Design – A squircle-shaped cap makes it easier to handle and open.
Pressure Venting System – Prevents pressure buildup to ensure a smooth and controlled opening of the product, solving a common issue with ethanol-based formulas.
