Colgate-Palmolive thrives on inclusivity, recognizing that many viewpoints enrich our approach to our people, our products and the customers we serve.

This guiding principle informs our meticulous approach to product development, including at Hill's Pet Nutrition, a division of Colgate-Palmolive. We are steadfast in our efforts to source the most wholesome components, ensuring the ingredients pet parents rely on from Hill’s are of the highest quality, and relentlessly working on our goal where all animal-derived ingredients originate from animals treated with the utmost care and compassion.

Hill’s Europe is the first European food manufacturer to commit to respecting the European Chicken Commitment (ECC) by the end of 2030. This significant milestone was far from straightforward, and the pursuit of such a goal required an appreciation for diverse viewpoints and expertise. Throughout our multi-year journey we’ve learned the importance of incorporating varied perspectives. Our progress is the result of intentional, cross-functional collaboration involving teams across the company, as well as input from external partners including suppliers, independent animal welfare experts, and advocacy organizations. By bringing together different experiences and insights, we challenge assumptions, spark innovation, and make more informed, responsible decisions. This collaborative approach ensures that our animal welfare standards reflect best practices, stakeholder interests, and evolving expectations, enabling us to deliver better outcomes for pets and the communities we serve.

In addition to committing to the ECC, 100 percent of Hill's European products have been made with eggs and egg-based products from cage-free laying hens since 2024. This change marks a significant step forward for the betterment of laying hens, one year ahead of the company's deadline.

In late 2024, our EU-wide efforts were recognized with the “Good Egg” Award from Compassion in World Farming (CIWF), a global non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting the rights of animals and promoting ethical farming practices around the world.

“Receiving the CIWF Good Egg Award is a testament to our unwavering commitment: every animal deserves compassion. We collaborate closely with our suppliers and industry experts, such as CIWF, to ensure our egg sourcing reflects our values. Together, we're shaping a more humane and sustainable future for farm animals and our industry," Gerald Mastio, Hill's Pet Nutrition.
