For almost 50 years, Filorga has bridged science and self-care, inspiring from the precision of aesthetic medicine and translating into routines that fit real life. Born in Paris from Dr. Michel Tordjman’s vision, the brand began with a simple goal: to make professional-grade science an integral part of everyday well-being.
That idea first took shape in Filorga’s original NCEF complex (New Cellular Encapsulated Factors), a blend of nutrients including vitamins, minerals, amino acids and hyaluronic acid. This approach reflected the brand’s early ambition to bring aesthetic-medicine science out of the clinic and into daily life.
Today, Filorga continues its mission with an updated version of its signature NCEF complex, refined and simplified for greater focus, transparency and alignment with modern skin-health science. The result is a formula designed to revitalize skin. By supporting cellular energy metabolism, supporting barrier function, and optimizing extracellular matrix organization, NCEF contributes to measurable improvements in overall skin quality and appearance.
“It’s not about changing what people love about Filorga,” said Roxane Henry, Scientific Affairs Project Specialist for Filorga. “It’s about strengthening that promise and building trust through clarity.”
How did Filorga simplify its NCEF formula?
At the core of every Filorga formula lies the same principle: science should serve people. When the Filorga team began refining its complex, their goal was to preserve the science behind it while simplifying the structure for clarity and purpose.
“Consumers told us that long ingredient lists can feel overwhelming,” Henry said. “By refining NCEF, we could keep what matters most and make every ingredient purposeful.”
Streamlining the formula also supported more responsible design—fewer raw materials, greater efficiency and less complexity. That same focus carried into the lab, where the team selected ten bio-functional ingredients, each chosen for a defined scientific role.
“Every choice, from composition to texture, was about efficacy and care,” said Ewelina Lesniak, Director of Skin Health Product Development at Colgate-Palmolive. “We want people to feel confident in the science that supports their daily routine.”
That collaboration between Filorga’s Paris-based experts and Colgate-Palmolive’s global R&D teams helped accelerate testing and ensure consistency across regions. To give people confidence in what’s inside, Filorga’s team tested the updated NCEF formula for safety, efficacy and skin compatibility, tracking measures like anti-aging (through elastin and collagen levels), skin barrier, cell vitality and turnover and antioxidant benefits.
“For us, transparency is part of innovation,” Lesniak said. “We validate everything we do so people can trust the science behind each formula.” That work includes recently published research on the patented mesotherapy-inspired formula behind NCEF, which demonstrated measurable changes in proteins linked to skin regeneration and energy metabolism, along with visible improvements in smoothness, radiance and complexion.*
What does the updated NCEF complex mean for Filorga?
The refined NCEF complex now serves as the foundation for future Filorga innovation in dermocosmetic research. Beginning with the NCEF-REVITALIZE line in 2024, the technology will inform new exploration across the Filorga portfolio for years to come.
“Science evolves quickly, and so do we,” Lesniak said. “We continually review and enhance our core technologies to reflect the latest advances in cellular-skincare science.”
As part of Colgate-Palmolive’s global innovation network, Filorga exemplifies how collaboration and care can reimagine healthier futures for people everywhere.
