Accelerating Change in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Our mission is to become a more diverse, equitable and inclusive company and includes three specific action areas: our People, our Partners, and our Community.
June 2020
OUR PEOPLE
We aspire to a workforce that mirrors the diversity of our consumers, customers and business partners around the world, and we will work to ensure that our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is clear to prospective and current employees from their first interaction with Colgate and throughout their Colgate career. We want our people to feel confident that they can be their authentic selves and, with the support of the company, reach their full potential.
We will focus on education and advocacy, addressing unconscious bias so that we make the best decisions to recruit, develop and advance top talent.
We have joined CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace. This provides our company with a powerful platform to collaborate with organizations that share our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion while more effectively sharing best practices across the 900+ member companies.
We will devote additional resources to attract, retain and develop underrepresented individuals, ensuring we provide strong and inclusive networks so that our people feel connected & supported.
OUR PARTNERS
We are working with our partners to ensure that what we bring to market and how we represent our company and brands reflect our commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
We will support partnerships with minority-owned suppliers, including direct and indirect material suppliers, service providers, temporary labor, recruiting and training services, marketing agency partners, and consultants in order to increase representation and strengthen these businesses.
We are supporting the “Stop Hate for Profit” campaign by pausing paid Facebook and Instagram advertising for the month of July.
OUR COMMUNITY
We commit to drive sustainable change in the communities in which we live and work by increasing our active support for organizations that advance civil rights and champion urban education, including programs that support the advancement of Black and African American people in STEM.
To begin, we are investing $4 million over two years to deepen our commitment to Black and African American communities, while we also continue active support for programs that advance women, Latinxs, Asians, LGBTQ+, veterans and people with disabilities.
ADVANCING CIVIL RIGHTS
Supporting the National Urban League, National Action Network and the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.
SUPPORTING URBAN EDUCATION
- Increasing our commitment to the United Negro College Fund, which we have supported since its founding in 1944.
- Expanding our work with the National Dental Association Foundation an important partner of ours for more than 30 years, to increase scholarship funding for aspiring Black and African American dental students.
- Continuing our commitment to the Colgate Women’s Games, now entering its 47th year.
- Deepening our commitment to Wadleigh School, Harlem Children’s Zone’s Promise Academy, and NOBCChE.
These actions are just the beginning. We have a long road ahead but an exciting one that will lead our company, and the communities we care about, to greater heights.
We are committed to progress. We are committed to change.
